To remove excess fat or glandular tissue and skin to achieve breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate discomfort associated with the overly large breasts (back pain, neck pain, bra straps groves)
It is a good option if
You experience back, neck and shoulder pain caused by the weigh of your breasts. If you also have skin irritation beneath the breath crease, enlarged areolas caused by stretched skin and if you are simply bothered by feeling your breast too large.
Be prepared to discuss your medical conditions, previous surgeries, family or personal history of breast cancer and the results of previous mammograms
I will evaluate your general health status, examine your breasts, take measurements of their size and shape, evaluate skin quality, and placement of nipple and areola.
Prior to surgery
You will have to get a lab test, get a baseline mammogram and/or ultrasound.
An incision is made around the nipple and areola accompanied by a vertical incision below the areola with or without a horizontal incision made in the crease below the breast. Short scar techniques are frequently applicable in breast reduction surgery and allow excellent reduction of size with improved shape of the breast while limiting the extent of the incisions.
Recovery and after surgery
The results are immediately visible. Dressings or bandage will be applied to the incision lines. You will have to wear elastic support bra for 3 to 4 weeks. Incision lines are visible in the postoperative period but will continue to fade over time.
